Craft TO DO List

My crafty to do list is soooo long right now! Most of it is self-imposed but I can't help it! There are so many fun fabrics, patterns, ideas, and juices flowing! I am out of town right now but when I get back here are some of things I will be working on:

1. Pattern Testing
I am thrilled because Patty Young contacted me to test another pattern for her! How fun is that? I should have a package from her waiting for me when I get back. I will post it after Patty has given the okay.

2. Finish my Flights of Fancy quilt! I was so close to being done when this happened. But I have the fabric and I'm so anxious to finish it up.
 3. Make the skirts for the my girls! I have this gorgeous fabric and this pattern. I can't wait to get these done.
4. I have joined a crochet-a-long! Cassie at You Go Girl! is hosting. I have not done any crochet for while and I fell in love with these pillowcases! My daughter Sophie's birthday is next month so I'm thinking I will make her a beautiful pillowcase. Of course it will have to be green, her favorite color.
 5. Maggie got Kit the American Girl for her birthday and she's been asking for a pillow and blanket for her. Since Kit is from the 1930's I thought it would be fun to make a quilt using vintage reproduction type fabrics like these:
This is just scratching the surface of what I really want to accomplish, but I think this will keep me busy for a while:).

Baby Boy Gift

Just before we left for our Spring Break vacation, I made this little set for a friend who recently had a sweet little baby boy, Axel. It was so fun to make something for a boy! I have 3 girls and only one boy and I have 8 nieces and only 2 nephews. That's a lot of pink!
I have also been dying to use this Riley and Blake All Stars fabric. I love it! I also love the other colorways but this one is my fav. I wanted to keep it simple and just do a strip quilt but decided to try it diagonally. I backed it with brown minky and added a circle with his initial. I zig-zaged around the edge of the A and around the whole quilt.
I also made a couple of burpies and a bib to go along with it. They are backed in the brown minky and the edges zig-zaged. I added a snap to the bib later. I like the way they turned out. I hope they will enjoy them. Congratulations Rachel!

The Ellie Tote

I have been looking for a simple tote bag pattern. I don't need fancy, just a bag I could throw all the countless things in that I take to church each Sunday. I wasn't finding one that I liked, so I decided to wing it and come up with my own!

I love it! You might notice that this is the same fabric as my sachet tutorial. I actually bought this fabric for a tote but loved it so much I anted to use it right away and ended up using it for the tutorial first lol. I made one large and one small pocket.
The bag measures 20"x14"x7" so it's a nice big bag and I lined both sides of fabric with Pellon Craft Fuse so it's nice and sturdy.
I used Crazy for Dots and Stripes from RJR fabric for the dots and stripes and the pink houndstooth is Feathery Florals by Debbie Hobbs for Henry Glass. Then I trimmed it with jumbo aqua ric rac and a cute polka dot ribbon and made my first Kanzashi flower! I still can't decide whether to place the flower here:

 Or here:

I am thinking about making this into a PDF pattern for my Etsy shoppe. I will call it the Ellie Tote since it was for me! Normally I am making things for others, it was kinda fun to make something that I will keep and use.

Sew Frustrating!

I was so excited to finish my quilt this weekend! I trimmed the edges and then started on the binding. I got all the way around the quilt and then, Aaahhhhh! I was about 3 inches shy on my binding fabric! And I didn't have any of this fabric left. Needless to say, I was pretty bummed. I searched the internet for this fabric and did not want to have to buy a whole yard and pay shipping! But the nice people at Sew Love Fabrics on Etsy were kind enough to sell me 1/4 yard and the total cost with shipping was $3.25. Whew! Crisis averted. So maybe next weekend?
