Fabric Crushing

It's been a while since I have splurged on fabric. I have quite a few projects I'd like to start, but they would really require some new fabric (right?). Here are a few fabric collections I am dying to get my hands on:

Moda's Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket
Not sure what it is about Salt Air, it's not my usual color picks. But there is just something about it that I love. Check out this cute quilt an Etsy seller made with it. Love it!

Of course Moda's Vintage Modern is on my wish list. I love all fabrics by Bonnie and Camille. And this has florals and houndstooth, my favorites!  But then they had to release a picture of their new line, Marmalade.
How cute is that orange! They are killing me with this one. Add another bundle to the list.

I must be in an orange mood because I can't get Joel Dewberry's Heirloom in the Citrine colorway out of my head. But I probably need to because I know it's getting harder to find.
Oh my, my heart is palpitating with each picture. I need to stop this or I might need resuscitating.

Okay, last one for today! Any part of the Flower Sugar line from Lecien. The vintage florals and colors had me at hello. I would love to make a granny squares quilt out of this line.
(Insert sigh here), that was fun. What are some of your favorite fabric lines right now?

June Bug Quilted!

The June Bug quilt for Jenessee has been quilted! I think Rolayne did a beautiful job and so fast! It looks so bright and cozy!
I just love the floral design she made on the border and then outlined the flowers and blocks and the patchwork border. Perfect!

Don't you just love the hot pink minky and green polka dot border. I'm just ecstatic about how it turned out!
It was presented to beautiful Jennessee and here she is with her new quilt.I'm so glad she likes it!

Doll Quilt Swap Received!

I feel like I won the lottery today! Look what I got in the mail! A package from Canada. On the contents it reads, Quilt, Fabric, Thread. Wouldn't you be excited too? It finally came! My quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap 12.
I have been anxiously waiting the postman everyday, but my girls have been even more excited! So today was a special day for all of us. It was hard to pry it out of their little hands to get my hands on it! Isn't it gorgeous?!! I just love the beautiful shade of pink, the perfectly sweet flying geese made with my favorite Heather Bailey fabric, the straight line quilting in a triangular shape. Seriously? It's amazing!! Just so "me"!
Here is the back of the quilt. A fun coordinating print and the cutest little tag!
Here is a closeup of the tag with a little mousey. Isn't it sweet?
As if the quilt wasn't enough, I also received pink and green fabric, Perle cotton in luscious pastels, a lovely note, and chocolate! I said I won the lottery, right?
I ask again, why didn't I try a swap sooner? This could be addicting! Who wouldn't want to get a wonderful mini quilt and goodies in the mail? Thank you, thank you LauraJ_Sews for such a perfect little quilt!

LDS Teacher Handouts

I work in the Primary with children in my church. I have done a lot of little projects since the beginning of the year, but haven't shared any! So here is one of them. We had a meeting to orientate and encourage our (22!) teachers and needed to give them a little handout. My co-worker has an artist friend that allowed us to use this wonderful picture and we added the little saying.
Then I made some little magnets so they could hang in on their fridge. The magnets say CTR (Choose the Right), Love One Another, and Teach Ye Diligently. I made the magnet designs and printed them out. If you'd like to download them, you can print them HERE.
I bought circle glass, little magnets, and glaze to put them together at Sun and Moon Craft Kits on Etsy.
I gave each teacher one of each magnet and stuck them on the back of the handout with sticky dots. Put them in a bag and added some chocolate love!

Spring Breakin'

Two out of four of my kids have been on Spring Break this week. Because we still had one in school we couldn't take any big trips. But hey, we live in Southern California! On Monday we headed to the San Diego Zoo for some animal fun.
It was the perfect day for my future Zoologist, Sophie.
My cute little seals. The one in the middle is not mine ;).

And without all of the normal driving around, I was able to do a little sewing! Worked on my Farmer's Wife blocks. I have reconciled with the fact that I will never have the time to catch up to the group. But that's alright. I'll get it done when I can. It may take a few years, but it will happen!

This last block is a redo. The first one was just terrible. White fixes everything! Ahhhh, all better. I just love these little blocks!

Doll Quilt Swap 12 Finished!

It has been so fun to participate in my first swap, the Doll Quilt Swap 12 on flickr. What took me so long to join in on the fun? I finished my "Scrappy Fortune" doll quilt just in time! It's made with Kate Spain's Good Fortune fabric from Moda. The requirements for the swap were to use at least one solid fabric and it couldn't be white! THAT was hard. I love using white. So I branched out and used my partner's favorite color, blue. For the border and binding I wanted to bring out another color, so I picked orange. Bam! I guess you could say it pops!
We also had to use one of six block patterns. I chose flying geese and shoo fly. On the back I used fabric from the Good Fortune line, little dragonflies in gray. I used a block from the front for the label as the lone design element. The quilting was done with an allover stipple in the midde. Then I stictched in the ditch of the orange border and did one straight line stitch down the middle of the flying geese border. I thought it gave them some movement.
Here is the little goody stash to go along with the quilt. You gotta have goodies too! A charm pack of Good Fortune fabric, little Shabby chic note pad, note cards and pen. And a box of fortune cookies!

Here is my label with my partners name block out. She hasn't received it yet and it's supposed to be a surprise! I sure hope she will like it, it was made with love. :) Can't wait to see what quilt I will receive, I am seriously excited!

June Bug Quilt Top - Complete!

I have been busy and I'm making progress! I finished my June Bug quilt top! It's so colorful and fun, I just love it.
My dear friend, Katie commissioned me to make this for her beautiful daugter, Jenessee. It's her 8th birthday and she was being baptized. Jenessee picked out the fun border fabric and we just took off from there finding fabrics that coordinated.

She needed a Full size quilt, so I added onto the pattern. Another row on each side, then I added rick rack, an inside border and an outside patchwork border. I did the same border for her sister, Heidi's quilt and thought it might kind of tie them together.
The last detail I added was buttons! Thought it might be cute to give each flower a little center. I found large buttons in all the colors of quilt. I think it adds more fun and whimsy. I hope she likes it! Now it's off to the quilter's, I can't wait to see what Grammy Roylane does!
